Bundo's Travels

Once upon a time there was a balloon crafted bunny called Bundo.

He was the only bunny of his kind so he was lonely. He never ate anything except newspaper and wallpaper paste, so mealtimes were never a social opportunity. He also got soggy when he sat out in the rain, and so he rarely went outside and seldom met other critters.

Bundo spent most of his days sitting at home, doodling on himself, illustrating all of the colourful characters he wanted to meet but never could.

One day when chewing newspaper, Bundo saw an advert to travel to China. China looked exciting. Bundo decided that he should travel the world visiting lots of exciting places, and one day he might even meet a fellow paper based rodent.

These are the travel logs of Bundo, The Glorious Newspaper Invention.

Golf Buggy Bunny (I think there's an exciting story title there)

Look-there's much fun to be had with a bunny.

Happy Bunnies

Last year I had a project to design soft toys for children. I started making cushion covers with pockets, and little stuffed bunnies to accompany them. I love making these!! Soon I hope to start selling them, so if you're interested in owning some little wabbits, please let me know!

A Pig Named Elf

This is Elf the guinea pig. She enjoys cucumber and dandelion leaves but she dislikes courgette; it's rubbish. She likes the sound of bags rustling-this is very exciting. However, noisy keys are very annoying. She loves munching grass but hates the great outdoors-this is also rubbish.

There's nothing more satisfying than an animal that squeaks when you cuddle it.

Chloe made this

My main passion is life is sketchbooks. I love to draw and collage. Everything I make or design starts life as a doodle in a sketchbook. Nothing makes me happier than a well-loved book of drawings.

New Designers and Texprint

So, since graduation I've been lucky enough to get to travel about a bit with all my work.
First, my graduating class and I visited London to exhibit at New Designers. We raised the funds for travel and exhibiting ourselves during our last year at university. There were 26 of us altogether.
During my stay in London, I went for an interview with Texprint-a UK non-profit making registered charity, whose aim is to link newly graduated textile designers with industry. You can see their website here: http://www.texprint.org.uk/index.htm
I was interviewed along with over 200 other applicants, and by some miracle I managed to earn a place on their programme. The 24 Texprint designers are first invited to exhibit at the Chelsea College of Art for First View. This is an opportunity for supporters and sponsors of Texprint to meet the designers and see their work. Six of the designers are also awarded prizes for outstanding merit in their fields.
After First View in July, the second part of the programme is to exhibit at Indigo at Premier Vision in Paris. This was an amazing experience.

I made some brilliant contacts and also met some really lovely people, especially on the Friday which was mainly a day for student visitors. I feel incredibly lucky to have been given this opportunity and know that it will have a great influence on my future in textiles.

First Post!

Welcome to my blog! I am a recent graduate from Heriot-Watt university in Galashiels, where I studied Design for Textiles - Fashion, Interiors and Art. Since graduation, I have exhibited my final collection at New Designers, London, and in Premiere Vision, Paris. My dream is to start my own small business with my sister, producing and selling t-shirts, toys and giftware of our own designs.

This blog space will be updated with our progress towards our aim of managing our own business!
(It will also be a place for me to witter on about current inspirations and experiences.)
Any comments or suggestions are very welcome!
